How I Met Your Mother: Zoo Or False ALTERNATIVE THEORY

Zoo or False Summary: Marshall loses his wallet. At first he admits that he was mugged by a man. But then he worries about poor Lily, who feels so shaken up she wants to herself buy a gun (just a small pink cute one to match with the adorable shoes she just bought 😂). He decides to confess the “truth”: He was mugged by a monkey. Lily is relaxed, but that doesn’t stop the gang from teasing him. Robin, who doesn’t ever get any good stories on her show, is intrigued and decides to submit the monkey mugging story to her boss. Marshall is freaked out and tells Ted and Barney the real “truth” that he only made up the monkey mugging to stop Lily from buying a gun. After they don’t believe him and a surprise visit from Lily, he admits the monkey mugging was the real story. But then on Robin’s show, there’s a huge debate on what really happened. In the end Marshall storms out and the gang are left unaware of the true story, even a decade later in 2030.

Okay. This episode was amazing and really cool. The point was probably that we don’t know what happens and who mugged Marshall. The monkey story was way too ridiculous to even imagine, and the human one seems like a more logical explanation. But even if we ever got an answer, this would 100% HAVE to be it: neither is true.

Firstly, he didn’t get mugged by a human because this “mugger” of his was the zookeeper bringing in Captain Bobo, the monkey mugger. And no, he did NOT get mugged by Bobo because of two reasons

a) NO ONE WATCHES ROBIN’S SHOW!!!! (Sorry Scherbatsky, but it’s true) and he only heard of Bobo being separated from Millie right before the interview. So logically when he tells Barney and Ted he can’t go on Robin’s show, you can’t reason that he didn’t want to be a national embarrassment. If he really thought that anyone could save this show then he had to be stupider than that blonde who thought Barney was Neil Armstrong(😂).

b) That doesn’t explain why Marshall was missing his wallet. Marshalls said the monkey was doing gross stuff with it but that is not an excuse. Even if the monkey was peeing or pooping on it, that isn’t worth having to get new stuff like identification because with a drivers license for example, he could just wash it off.

Since we’ll never find out the truth, I’m gonna go ahead and make up an alternate theory what happened to Marshall’s wallet. It goes after work Marshall decides to go to the zoo. Every thing in the monkey story happens except the mugging. After his interaction with the zookeeper, a friend sends a video of people in China, Thailand, and Costa Rica, getting mugged by monkeys. He then gets on the phone with Ted who is in an argument with Barney about which they would choose: Barney says a Star Wars convention and Ted says a “The 88“ concert. Marshall says he can’t choose between this two and hangs up, but suddenly overhears two teenagers near him talking obnoxiously loud about a Star Wars convention slash a concert for The 88. He approaches them and they say they can get him tickets but they’ll need his wallet. Marshall naively hands it over and they run away, leaving Marshall realising he has been tricked after they overheard his phone call. When he gets home he just pretends he was the victim of a normal mugging. But when Lily wants to buy a gun, he remembers the monkey videos and plays it off that he was mugged by a monkey. But then he doesn’t want to go on Robin’s show because he didn’t want to lie on TV, even if her show was watched by absolutely no one. Then after Lily comes he gets scared Ted and Barney will tell Lily so he sticks to the monkey story. But on TV, Marshall realises walking out gave everyone what they wanted. Lily didn’t get a gun, Barney gets a great sympathy story, Ted gets his model on TV, Robin gets a good story on Ted’s model, and Bobo got to stay with Milly.

Hope that you like this. I wanted to link up how Marshall knew about monkey mugging in China, Thailand, and Costa Rica. In this version, he tells Lily what happens some time in the future but everyone has forgotten it by then so she somehow manages not to blurt it out. If you don’t get the 88 band thing it’s in the episode Best Prom Ever in season 1. My favourite part of the episode is Ted playing with with dolls and is like “Yeah… Just the last scene” and Marshalls says “Again”. Anyway, Bye!
